MAX221CUE+

The MAX221CUE+ is a +5V powered single RS232 transceiver with AutoShutdown in 16 pin TSSOP package. This RS232 transmit/receive and V.28 communication interface device has automatic shutdown/wake-up features and high data rate capabilities. The MAX221 achieves a low 1μA supply current with Maxim’s revolutionary AutoShutdown feature. AutoShutdown saves power without changes to existing BIOS or operating system by entering low power shutdown mode when RS232 cable is disconnected or when transmitter of connected peripheral is off. The device wakes up and drives INVALID (complementary) pin high when an active RS232 cable is connected. The internal power supply consists of a dual charge pump that provides positive output voltage (doubling charge pump) and negative voltage (inverting charge pump) from a single +5V supply.
