Product Overview

The MAX3736ETE+ is a 3.2Gbps, low power compact SFP laser driver in 16 pin TQFN package. It is a 3.3V multirate laser driver for SFP/SFF applications up to 3.2Gbps. The device accepts differential data and provides bias and modulation currents for driving a laser. DC-coupling to laser allows for multirate applications and reduces number of external components. The wide 5mA to 60mA (85mA AC coupled) modulation current range and 1mA to 100mA bias current make the MAX3736 ideal for driving FP/DFB laser diodes in fibre optic modules. The laser current setting can be controlled by current DAC, voltage DAC or resistor. Very low power dissipation, small package size and reduced component count make MAX3736 an ideal solution for SFP module applications. It is used in gigabit Ethernet SFP/SFF transceiver modules, 1G/2G fibre channel SFP/SFF transceiver modules, multirate OC-3 to OC-48 FEC SFP/SFF transceiver modules and 10G Ethernet LX-4 modules.

  • Fully compatible with SFP and SFF-8472 specifications
  • 56ps edge transition times and 0.6psRMS random jitter (10mA ≤ IMOD ≤ 60mA)
  • Power supply current of 22mA
  • Deterministic jitter of 16psP-P (10mA ≤ IMOD ≤ 60mA, 2.67Gbps)
  • On-chip pull-up resistor for DIS
  • Modulation current gain of 85A/A at 5mA ≤ IMOD ≤ 10mA
  • Modulation current gain stability of +4% and modulation current gain linearity of ±3.3 %
  • Modulation OFF current of 100μA
