MAX489ECSD+

MAX489ECSD+ is a full duplex, low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communications in harsh environments. Each driver output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV electro-static discharge (ESD) shocks, without latch-up. The part contains one driver and one receiver. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places their outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is an open circuit. It is used in applications such as low-power RS-485 transceivers, low-power RS-422 transceivers, level translators, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, and industrial-control local area networks.

• 120μA quiescent current, 32 transmitters on the bus
• Input current is ±2µA maximum at (VCC = 5V ±5%)
• Receiver input hysteresis is 70mV typical at (VCM = 0V, VCC = 5V ±5%)
• Supply current in shutdown is 10µA maximum at (VCC = 5V ±5%)
• Receiver short-circuit current is 250mA maximum at (0V ≤ VO ≤ VCC)
• Driver input to output is 800ns typical at (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
• Driver rise or fall time is 2000ns maximum at (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
• Differential receiver skew is 90ns typical at (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
• Operating temperature range from 0°C to +70°C, 14-pin SO package
