Product Overview
MCP3428-E/SL is a 4-channel, 16bit, low noise and high accuracy, multi-channel ΔΣ analog-to-digital converter with I²C™ Interface and on-board reference. This device can convert analog inputs to digital codes with up to 16bits of resolution. This device can output analog-to-digital conversion results at rates of 15 (16-bit mode), 60 (14-bit mode), or 240 (12bit mode) samples per second depending on the user controllable configuration bit settings using the two-wire I²C serial interface. During each conversion, the device calibrates offset and gain errors automatically. Typical applications portable instrumentation and consumer goods, temperature sensing with RTD, thermistor, and thermocouple, bridge sensing for pressure, strain, and force, weigh scales and battery fuel gauges, factory automation equipment.
- Differential input full scale range from -VREF to +VREF
- Self calibration of internal offset and gain per each conversion
- Differential full scale input voltage is ±2.048V/PGA typ (VIN = [CHn+ - CHn-], TA = -40 to +85°C)
- Gain error drift is 15ppm/°C typ (PGA=1, DR=15 SPS, TA = -40°C to +85°C)
- Integral non-linearity is 10ppm of FSR typ (DR = 15 SPS, TA = -40°C to +85°C)
- Data rate is 15SPS typ (TA = -40°C to +85°C, VDD = +5.0V, VSS = 0V)
- Supply current during conversion is 145µA typ (VDD = 5.0V, TA = -40°C to +85°C)
- One-shot conversion with 1 SPS is 9µA typical for 16bit mode
- On-board oscillator, standard, fast and high speed modes
- 14 pin SOIC package, extended operating temperature range from -40 to 125°C
