MAX5422ETA+T

The MAX5422ETA+T is a 256-tap, non-volatile, SPI interface digital potentiometer in 8 pin TDFN package. This digital potentiometer performs the function of a mechanical potentiometer but replaces mechanics with a simple 3-wire SPI compatible digital interface. It performs same function as a discrete potentiometer or variable resistor and has 256 tap points. The 3-wire SPI-compatible serial interface allows communication at data rates up to 5MHz, it minimizes board space and reduce interconnection complexity in many applications. It is ideal for applications requiring a low temperature coefficient variable resistor such as low drift, programmable gain amplifier circuit configurations. Typical applications mechanical potentiometer replacement, low drift programmable gain amplifiers, audio volume control, liquid crystal display (LCD) contrast control and low drift programmable filters.

• Single supply operation from +2.7V to +5.25V, operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
• Internal non-volatile EEPROM to store the wiper position for initialization during power-up
• 5MHz SPI compatible serial interface
• Linear taper digital potentiometer
• Wiper position stored in non-volatile memory (EEPROM), recalled upon power-up or interface command
• End to end resistance is 50Kohm, end to end resistance temperature coefficient is 35ppm/°C
• Full scale error is -0.6LSB, zero scale error is 0.7LSB, wiper -3dB bandwidth is 100KHz
• Ratiometric temperature coefficient is 5ppm/°C
• 500nA (typ) static supply current, wiper settling time is 400ns
• ±0.5LSB DNL in voltage divider mode, ±0.5LSB INL in voltage divider mode
